Excerpts~

“What is it my Lady?” Zoe sought.

“Don’t be afraid.” The Supreme Lioness told her before fading away.

Zoe sat expectantly, wondering what to do. Suddenly a strong wind began to howl. Heavy dark clouds gathered over head and thunder crashed all around. Do not be afraid, she reminded herself. Branches snapped from trees and were flung to the ground. Lightening split the air spreading fingers of light across the sky. Hail pelted her skin, rain beat on her with stinging force. Still, she remained seated in her grassy spot beside the creek. A bolt of electric light hit the ground, knocking her backwards. Wild winds whipped her long hair about furiously. She grasped the closest tree trunk to prevent being blown away. Do not be afraid, she told herself again, forcing her mind to stay calm. Looking up, she saw thunder clouds releasing their wrath. She shielded her face with an arm to avoid the debris and hail stones. For nearly an hour she endured nature’s torrent of every element, even snow. At last, the tumultuous storm subsided, leaving a clear but dark sky in its place. Zoe pulled herself up, bruised and battered, yet overflowing with astounding joy. She walked from the woods to seek her mate.

“What happened to you girl?” Sax asked in shock upon seeing his lovely wife such a mess. “I thought you went in for renewal, not destruction.”

Zoe laughed softly. “I did, but our Lady has her ways. I have received an incredible gift.”

“Are you allowed to tell me?” He inquired, unable to hide his excitement.

~*~
They had been riding all day. Dusk began to settle on the western skies. Zoe noticed that the highways seemed unusually desolate for the time of day. Her sixth sense began to kick into high alert. Sax felt her tension. Having fought by her side many times, long before they married, he recognized her every feeling. Deep faith kept him in tune to her thoughts without the need for words. Even while she was married to Mott, Sax embraced her faith unto himself, proving to be a loyal friend long before crossing over to lovers.

Only a few minutes passed before Zoe’s intuition came to light. Again they met up with the large motorcycle group, Black Star. This time more of them arrived on the scene, many more, bringing their numbers to easily over one hundred riders.

Sax felt uneasy when he looked ahead and saw they had been boxed in. “Looks like we’re in it now, love,” he noted.

Zoe nodded. “I see that. How should we handle it? Do you think they are innocents?”

“I don’t know. They sure don’t look it,” he replied, taking a quick look around.

“What do you think they want? Money?”

Sax slowed their bike readying to pull over. “Let’s find out, shall we?”

Zoe loved his style, always ready to fight if needed. She felt her adrenaline rise, preparing herself for possible battle. They remained seated on their bike, waiting for the riders to approach. A distinctive looking man emerged from the pack. Long black hair blew in the evening breeze as he walked towards them. Sax dismounted the bike to face the stranger. Though Sax stood tall at six foot two, the man from Black Star towered over him. Zoe stared in awe. His black eyes held a commanding expression.

“What can I do for ya mate?” Sax inquired, apparently unruffled by the man’s intimidating appearance.

“You have something we want,” the man spoke.

“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Sax responded as he casually chomped on a fresh piece of gum.

“Her,” the man stated.

Sax laughed sardonically. “Now why the hell am I not surprised?”

Zoe stepped forward. “Who are you?”

The man gave her a once over. “My friends call me Steel.”

She inwardly shuddered. “As in Flaming Steel?”

“Never heard of them,” Steel replied, his eyes glimmered eerily.

Zoe doubted that. Flaming Steel had been the pack that first abducted her, by using her ex-husband Travis and Booker Savage as their tools. Luckily for Zoe, Booker developed a soft spot for her and foiled Mott’s plans to make her queen of his evil empire. Now suddenly a new road bike gang rolled onto the scene with a leader named Steel, she felt the connection to be more than coincidence.

“What do you want with me?” She pressed. Her keen eyesight spotted a large bowie knife at his side.

“Don’t play with me. You know what we want. We’ve been instructed to bring you with us,” he snapped.

“By who?” Sax demanded.

Steel glared at him. “That is no concern of yours. If she comes peacefully, nobody gets hurt.”

“Like hell it’s not my concern. She’s my wife and you can’t take her.” Sax fired back.

Zoe struggled to discern whether they were innocents or truly evil souls sent by another source. Her purpose was to kill evil fiends who threatened the innocent, yet she had to be extremely careful not to take an innocent soul. Doing so would banish her from the sisterhood and send her soul to the other side. The fact that the Twilight’s seed lived on through Hannah posed a new threat. Zoe needed to exert strong caution over her actions now. Knowing her powers could easily wipe out the men, still she held back. Her gut feeling told her that Steel was evil, but she also sensed the presence of innocents mixed in with his pack. The Twilight realm proved to be uncannily deceptive. Zoe had learned to follow her spirit for guidance to avoid being tricked again. She prepared to fight the traditional way, one on one with her daggers. Sax saw her twitch and knew she would grab her blades. Discreetly he reached for his own.

Just when they felt convinced warfare would commence, Steel’s group began to scatter. The menacing leader whipped around to see what caused the commotion. Knifes flashed in the fading sunlight as a new group rode onto the scene. Zoe and Sax stood watching in amazement while both groups battled fiercely. The new gang overpowered Steel’s pack in hand to hand combat.

“I’ll get you another day, bitch,” Steel growled before disappearing into the chaos.

Sax held Zoe back, but could not tear her away from witnessing the brutal onslaught occurring before their eyes. Engines revved as Black Star riders realized their defeat. They began to flee in different directions, to escape the surprise attack. When they had gone, one pack remained. A huge, scruffy looking troop straddled gleaming motorcycles.

He sauntered from the rear of the crowd, black leather trench coat trailing out behind him. Long sandy curls hung loosely over his shoulders, framing a handsomely rugged face. Tattered blue jeans and a silky black tee shirt clung to his tall, lean but muscular frame. Light blue eyes blazed with victory as he approached her.

“Well, well…how ya doing babe?”
