SHATTERED...
Now you see inside
Cause I no longer hide
Or fall between the cracks you left behind
SHATTERED...
Now you're out of time
You've come this far to be denied~

Zoe crouched on the ground. She looked around and saw nothing but soot. A fiery volcanic mound loomed over her. Tears streaked her face as she trembled with fear. A vaporous cloud enveloped the warrior woman. Black eyes stared into her soul.

“What do you want?” She cried.

“You...Zoe Bella...we want the woman of fire.” A frightening voice replied.

Desperately she crawled through the dark, seeking an escape. Shadowy hands grabbed at her. She ducked and swerved to avoid their grasp. Just ahead, lay the open highway. If only she could reach it before they trapped her, she would be free. Something caught hold of her boot and dragged her backwards. Mott stood on the roadside beckoning to her, his long blonde hair blowing in the breeze. Then suddenly he disappeared.

“You can’t have him,” a new voice stated.

Zoe looked up to see Booker standing over her. His light blue eyes stared straight into her soul. She wiped ash from her face to focus on the immortal fiend.

“Why not?” She asked.
Booker smiled coolly. “He belongs to another.”

“No, he belongs to me. We shared the Spark of Life,” she argued.

Abruptly Booker vanished and Ian took his place. He glared at Zoe with angry blue eyes, a darker blue than Booker’s, yet lighter than her own. Fear deluged her. She felt his fury. After all, she did kill Ian and his wife during an immortal battle with the Satellite. Ian grabbed her by the hair and dragged her up the mountainous pit. Looking down, her eyes burned from the staggering heat rising from inside. The stench of sulfur stung her nose. Molten rock bubbled deep below. Then she saw Mott standing on the opposite side.

“Mott...baby...get down from there!” She called to him.

The tall, handsome man ignored her plea and let himself fall into the burning sulfur. Zoe screamed in horror. Sobs wracked her body at the loss of her rock star husband.

“You’re next.” Ian announced, and proceeded to throw her in. “We’ll see you in the Twilight.”

She was falling...falling. Out of nowhere, strong hands grabbed her. Faces flashed before her Sapphire eyes as she began to rise. Safely on the ground again, she found herself staring at Booker once more. This truly mystified her. She tried to stop her tears but they continued to flow.

“You’re in the Twilight babe,” Booker said.

Zoe stared at him, bewildered. “Mott is gone.”

“Not really,” Booker told her. “But there is another.”

Zoe threw herself to the ground and wailed. When she glanced up, Booker, Ian and Mott stood around her in a circle. An evil laugh echoed through the dark just before the three men vanished into a thick, heavily scented mist, leaving her alone…in the Twilight.

“Noooo!” She screamed.

Sax and Zoe stopped to rest in a secluded grove of trees. Sax had a calming effect on her. He was the only one not trying to control her. Lying on the cool grass invoked feelings of peace. Effects from the alcohol were subsiding, allowing her mind to clear. As she gazed up at the midnight sky with its diamond-like appearance, the constellations reminded her of the upcoming war.

“Twilight used to be my favorite time of day. Now it’s tainted,” she sighed.

Sax rolled onto his side. “I’ve always loved nights, maybe because of the concerts. Don’t lose hope, it will get better,” he said, looking down at her.

“Ya know Sax, I have shared so much with you, yet I barely know anything about your life. Why haven’t you married yet? You are such a sweetheart.”

“Ah, I don’t know, love. Never found a woman who could hold my interest long enough I guess…except you and you’re taken,” he replied.

Taken off guard by his response, she looked away to hide the blush on her cheeks. “Sax…”

“I want to taste you again Zo so,” he interrupted. “I miss the closeness we shared. I can’t get the last kiss out of my mind.”

“What about Hannah?” Zoe sought.

“She’s lovely and I like her very much. But not as I feel for you. My thoughts are always thinking of you,” he replied.

She gazed up at him, their eyes met. A tight feeling gripped her stomach as he stared into her soul. This was the first time they were truly alone. Slowly he lowered his head, hesitantly seeking to kiss her. When she didn’t object, he allowed his lips to softly touch hers.

“Sax...” she whispered between kisses. “We shouldn’t. I won’t be able to stop this time since we are alone.”

“I don’t want you to stop, love."
